It’s Independence Day in the United States of America and although it’s celebrated mostly in America other countries celebrate it too.
Like Denmark.
Not far from where I live an annual celebration takes place. In the Rebild Hills – or Rebild Bakker (in the Danish version
they boldly claim it to be ‘the world’s largest 4th of July celebration outside the United States of America…')
And a lot of people do participate in this celebration that has taken place since 1912
The day is among other things celebrated with speeches from both Danes and Americans. This year’s main speakers are Niels Arden Oplev (best known outside Denmark for being the director of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Janet Borge Crowle (daughter of Victor Borge).
There are a lot of activities through out the day. Both for kids and grown ups. And in the days prior to July 4th the surrounding cities celebrate 'American Days'.
Happy 4th of July
