Memory Monday:

Growing up I didn’t just listen to music in English. We do have quite a few amazing singers/bands in Denmark as well. Most of them perform(ed) in both English and Danish.
These are some of the Danish songs I listened to during the 80's and 90's…

Anne Linnet – Glor På Vinduer (Looking at Windows)

Marquis De Sade is the name of her band. (Nothing to do with the actual Marquis himself.)

Halberg Larsen – Magi I Luften (Magic In the Air)

Rocazino – All My Love

Tøsedrengene – Indianer (Indian (as in Native American)

Ray Dee Ohh – Mandagsstævnemøde (Monday assignation)

One Two – Hvide Løgne (White Lies)

Sanne Salomonsen – Uden Dig (Without You – however I think this was actually recorded in English at some point titled Without Love)

Anne Linnet and Sanne Salomonsen are 'still going strong', Rocazino is on a Revival Tour at the moment, but the rest of the bands split up pursuing either a personal music career for some of them or simply pursuing other dreams - like it happens with most bands.

Sanne Salomonsen is often referred to (by the Danes...) as 'the Danish Tina Turner' or simply 'Rock Mama'.
Anne Linnet is a Danish lesbian icon (I'll probably elaborate on that in a later post).

Have a nice day!
